My Monthly Review - May 2023

I have been publicly sharing my monthly business reviews since January 2022 (scroll to the bottom of this post to see my others).

This is a reset process I go through on the first of every month to review the month that has just been and to plan for the month ahead.

I highly encourage all of my clients and students to do a similar process each month as it helps keep you accountable and see what is working and isn’t working in your business.

If you want a free checklist to use you can grab that here:

If you aren’t regularly tracking what is happening in your business then it’s very difficult to assess what’s working, what isn’t working, what progress you are making (or not making!) and how you can improve.

My review process normally takes me about 20 minutes to complete each month and when I look back on my previous entries I’m so grateful that I have a record of what has been happening so I can look back on how far I have come!

A quick note before we start…

I share this information publicly because I’m a completely open book and want to encourage and inspire other women and mothers about what is possible with their businesses.

When I was starting my ow business I used to follow a few business owners who did something similar to this and I found it hugely inspiring and helpful as it showed me what was possible in my own business.

However, I’m aware that some people find the sharing of business results and revenue numbers triggering, so if that’s you then I suggest you skip this post and jump in to some of my other free content instead :)

Here’s my review from May 2023.

Notes from Last Month

What went well, what didn’t go well…

Here’s some of what happened during May:

  • Revenue was OK but I didn’t quite hit my goal of $150K this month. I was pretty close though, especially considering current market conditions

  • Quite a few of my Instagram posts have been doing particularly well lately - I’ve implemented a new strategy mixing in some fun memes I’ve created alongside my educational content and this is working really well for community engagement (and just not taking the whole industry quite so seriously!)

  • So close to reaching 100,000 follower on Instagram. I’m not super into vanity metrics but hitting 100K will be quite a milestone after all the work I’ve put into my Instagram page

  • Was really sick with the flu for about a week - this put me behind on a few things I wanted to achieve this month so catching up now I’m better

  • My free Facebook group has just hit 14,000 designer members 🙂

  • My email list hit 50K subscribers this month 🥳

  • Started my weekly (paid) stretching sessions with Kirsti from Pilates to You (these are virtual sessions). I am paying for accountability with my stretching and mobility as I really want to improve in this area and just don’t do it myself without paying for some accountability.

  • Have been continuing with Project 45, although stopped posting so much about this publicly as it was creating too much work and causing me stress to come up with daily ideas. I have been continuing to tweak health things like my nutrition, trying to sleep better and trying out new ideas (with mixed success so far). A work in progress!

  • Posted daily content to Instagram and LinkedIn, which was a goal for the month that I hit. Very happy with the content I’ve been creating lately as I feel it’s really helpful for my community.

  • The slab for our house got poured yesterday. Progress is quite slow on the build as we are already up to June and only at slab stage, so having to be quite patient about the process.

Looking forward - plan this month

Focus this month:

🤫 Finish the template project and launch before 30 June

👏🏻 Daily content

🏡 House selections, supplier visits and finish design drawings

Projects this month:

  • Templates project completed

  • Course updates

  • Facebook group update

  • House selections/build planning

Goal this month:

$150K in revenue

What would make this month amazing?

Finish the EOFY with a strong revenue month and get my templates project launched. I am really excited about these templates as I think they are going to be a game changer for designers in terms of helping them make massive progress in their businesses really quickly.

Continue to look after my health as part of Project 45 to feel my best for my birthday on 5th July.

If you would like to follow my business journey you can read my other monthly reviews via the links at the bottom of this page.
