Best business podcasts for 2023

I’m an obsessive listener of podcasts and I have basically built my business off the back of what I have learned from podcasts over the years.

I love learning and hearing motivating stories from others so whenever I’m doing a task that doesn’t require my full attention I’ll turn on a podcast and listen. This is typically while doing things like driving, walking, folding washing, ironing or cooking dinner.

My community knows this about me and as a result I’m always being asked for recommendations of podcasts I enjoy so today I’m putting together my current favourites.

Business podcasts for everyone

The list below are the main podcasts I’m enjoying right now. These are the podcasts where I really look forward to the latest episode and listen to almost every episode that is released.

The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett

Steven is a hugely successful UK entrepreneur who interviews really interesting guests about how they have built their businesses. This is probably my favourite podcast at the moment.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I got on to this podcast after reading Jay’s book ‘Think like a Monk’ (which is really good by the way - worth a read). He interviews interesting people on his podcast - not so much business related but more mindset I would say. But to be successful in business you need a good mindset so I think it’s still a great one to listen to!

How I built this with Guy Raz

This is a podcast I’ve been listening to for years now but I still love it and listen to almost every episode. Guy is a great interviewer and he unpacks how people have started and built their businesses, which I always find really helpful to hear about.

The Iced Coffee Hour

I am only new to this podcast as of a few weeks ago but I find the in-depth interviews really interesting and I like the style of the interviewers. I’ve actually been watching the podcast on YouTube while I’m working and doing other things - but you can listen or watch, whatever you prefer.

The Game with Alex Hormozi

I would say this is a bit more intermediate to advanced advice in this podcast - probably not one for those just getting started. I’ve only recently discovered Alex’s content but I find the way he thinks about business quite interesting and helpful. He’s made about $100 million dollars in business so he knows what he’s talking about!

The Futur with Chris Do

I don’t listen to many episodes of this podcast but it’s in my follow list. Many of you will likely find this a helpful podcast as it’s aimed at creative people so I thought I would put it on the list for you!

Business podcasts I pick and choose from

I also have a list of podcasts that I really enjoy but don’t listen to every episode. These are podcasts where I see who the latest interview is with (or what the topic is) and if it’s someone/something of interest then I’ll take a listen.

A word of warning though - a number of these have quite abrasive (male) hosts and a lot of swearing - so they aren’t a good choice for listening with kids around!

The Joe Rogan Experience

I’m sure you’ve already heard of Joe Rogan’s podcast! It’s one of the most successful podcasts in the world. Joe does in depth interviews (often over 2 hours) with some really interesting and impressive people and because of the popularity of the podcast gets some really great guests. This is one of my favourites to listen to if there’s an interview with someone who I’m interested in (which is quite often). Quite a bit of swearing though so be warned!

The Tim Ferriss Show

You’ve no doubt heard of this podcast as it’s also one of the top business podcasts in the world. Tim Ferriss is best known for his famous book ‘The 4-Hour Workweek’ and in this show he “deconstructs world-class performers from eclectic areas like investing, chess, pro sports etc.”. This is another one I definitely listen to if there’s a guest who I find interesting. Start with the Hugh Jackman interview if you’re new to his podcast - I loved that episode!

The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes

The school of greatness has interviews with some of the most successful people in the world - scientists, business leaders, people in entertainment, sports people. I enjoy Lewis’ interviewing style but really only listen if there’s a guest on who is of interest to me.

The Gary Vee Audio Experience

Gary Vee is another of the abrasive hosts I was mentioning and he definitely takes some getting used to but I have learned so much about marketing from his podcast over the years. Take some time to listen to a few episodes as he definitely grows on you - I promise!

These days he is talking a lot about NFTs and crypto currency, which may or may not be of interest to you (although you should be educating yourself on this space as it’s so important to understand!) - but many of his other episodes are on mindset and marketing and have lots of useful ideas in them.

The Rich Roll Podcast

This is another one I pick and choose from. Not every guest interests me but the conversations are really interesting when it’s on a topic or with a guest who I’m curious about.

Business podcasts for beginners

I also have a list of recommended podcasts that are better for those who are just getting started in business. These are the podcasts I used to listen to religiously when I was first starting my own business. I don’t listen to these much anymore but I learned so much from them back in the day.

Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

This is one of the top online business podcasts in the world and I used to listen to every single episode of this for the first years in my business. I have also done Amy’s course about creating an online course and I’ve also been featured on this podcast in this episode as one of Amy’s ‘success stories’ if you want to take a listen!

Smart Passive Income Podcast with Pat Flynn

This was another one of my most listened to podcasts for the first 4-5 years of my business. I learned so much from Pat and the guests he has on. I don’t listen much any longer as it’s really pitched more at beginners but it’s a fantastic podcast for those who are just getting started.

The Goal Digger Podcast with Jenna Kutcher

Jenna is a professional photographer turned online marketing expert and this is another podcast that taught me a lot back when I was transitioning from working as a designer to moving my business online. I personally find her voice a little annoying - but the content is very helpful.

That will give you lots to get stuck in to hopefully!
