Getting started with outsourcing (+ free checklist!)

When should you start outsourcing and how do you even get started?

This is a question lots of people ask me - so today I am sharing some tips for how to get started with delegating and outsourcing.

I also have a completely free checklist to share with you - with lots of ideas for what you might be able to start delegating and outsourcing. You can download it below! :)

You’re ready to start outsourcing when:

  • you are overwhelmed and have too much work on

  • you're wasting time on things you don't enjoy or aren't that good at

  • you're wasting time or money on tasks that could be outsourced to someone who charges out a lot less per hour than you

  • you know you need help but you're not sure where to start

  • you're not sure what sort of person to hire - a virtual assistant, a design assistant, a virtual book-keeper?

  • you aren't sure which tasks you could give them and don't even have time to think about it!

A few tips on getting started with outsourcing

  • what is on your plate that could be delegated?

  • a very easy place to start is with your home based activities - saving time is saving time. Freeing up time spent on housework gives you back time to spend on your business

  • make sure you know how to do all tasks before outsourcing them and know how long they take you to complete - if you don't then you run the risk of being ripped off!

  • you need to be intimately involved in your business at all times and know how to do everything - even if you don't continue to do it yourself once you know how

  • only start to hire when you really need to - the right time to start is when you have way more work than you can handle and you notice that you are dropping the standard of work you're delivering. Too many people start hiring too early and end up giving contractors and employees all the profit they could be keeping themselves.

  • hire part-time contractors first, not full or part time employees. Try them out on contractor basis as this is less risk and easier to back out of if need be
